The building is located in the heart of the historic city center, very close to the buffer zone. Our company has contributed to the restoration of this historic area with various steel and supplementary works, such as the very demanding structure of the stands for the amphitheater. The very unique characteristics of the area, as well as the restricted access to large vehicles and lifting machinery, increased the difficulty of the construction. However, accurate analysis of the design, excellent coordination with the main contractor and great care and diligence in carrying out the works, have contributed to face and successfully complete this challenge.

Loukia & Michael Zampelas Art Museum openings took place on 17th May 2012 in Kaimakli. It was with our great pride to notice the high guests of the event admiring the whole structure, though what particularly impressed was the 24m long bridge connecting the old with the new building. This is an exceptional structure of a steel frame in a glass envelope. Due to the structure’s complexity and technical difficulties, a detailed analysis of the model was necessary as well as continuous coordination with the architect and engineer to resolve all issues arising. Furthermore, as a consequence of the structural weakness of the old building, the structure is self supported and stands only on the new building, while the required support is ensured using the German tension rod system DETAN.
